About AI Share

AI Share is a Chrome browser extension that helps users conveniently capture share links from AI chatbot conversations. It works with popular AI assistants including Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI ChatGPT, and Google Gemini.

When you have a conversation open on a supported AI platform, AI Share can extract the shareable URL (and, for Copilot, the conversation ID) so you can easily copy and share it with others.

            Summary: AI Share does not collect, store, transmit, or share any user data. It operates entirely within your browser and communicates only with the AI chatbot tab you already have open.
        

1. Data We Collect

None. AI Share does not collect any data from you. Specifically:

No personal information (name, email, account details)
No browsing history or activity tracking
No conversation content from your AI chats
No analytics, telemetry, or usage metrics
No cookies or tracking pixels

2. How the Extension Works

AI Share operates entirely within your local browser session:

Share link capture: When you click "Capture Share Link," the extension interacts with the AI chatbot's own sharing interface (the same buttons you would click manually) to retrieve the share URL.
Conversation ID (Copilot only): For Microsoft Copilot, the extension can retrieve the conversation ID by using the platform's built-in /id command.
Clipboard access: The extension copies the captured URL to your clipboard only when you click the copy button.

All of this happens locally in your browser. No data is sent to any external server, API, or third party.

3. Network Requests

AI Share makes zero network requests of its own. It does not communicate with any remote server. The only network activity occurs within the AI chatbot tabs themselves (e.g., when the chatbot's own share feature generates a link), which is controlled by those platforms, not by this extension.

4. Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following browser permissions, used solely for its stated functionality:

activeTab: To detect which AI chatbot is open in the current tab.
scripting: To inject content scripts that interact with the chatbot's share interface on supported sites.
tabs: To read the URL of the active tab to identify the AI platform.
Host permissions (copilot.microsoft.com, chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com): To run content scripts only on these specific AI chatbot sites.

5. Third-Party Services

AI Share interacts with the following AI platforms when you use them:

Microsoft Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com)
OpenAI ChatGPT (chatgpt.com)
Google Gemini (gemini.google.com)

Each platform has its own privacy policy. AI Share does not modify, intercept, or transmit any data from these platforms — it simply reads the share URL that the platform generates.

6. Data Storage

AI Share does not store any data. It has no database, no local storage, no server-side component, and no user accounts. Each time you use the extension, it performs a one-time read of the share link and that information exists only in the popup until you close it.

7. Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13. Since no data is collected from any user, no data is collected from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy if the extension's functionality changes. Any significant updates will be noted in the extension's release notes on the Chrome Web Store.
